Electromagnetic field around a slowly rotating wormhole

We have considered the possibility of a slowly rotating wormhole surrounded by a cloud of charged particles. Due to slow rotation of the wormhole, the charged particles are dragged thereby producing an electromagnetic field. We have determined the strength of this electromagnetic field and the corresponding flux of radiation.

Inward rotating spiral waves in glycolysis.

We report on the first observation of inward rotating spiral waves (antispirals) in a biochemical reaction-diffusion system. Experiments are performed with extracts from yeast cells in an open spatial reactor. By increasing the protein concentration of the extract we observe a transition from outward to inward propagating waves of glycolytic activity. Numerical simulations with an allosteric mo...

Existence of Steadily Rotating Spiral Waves

In this paper, we study the existence of steadily rotating spiral waves in the kinematic theory of excitable media. The spiral wave is assumed to be a family of curves. It rotates along a circle with a constant speed such that the tip of the curve neither grows nor retracts in the tangential direction. Using an analytical approach, we are able to derive the existence and non-existence of spiral...

Inwardly rotating spiral waves in a reaction-diffusion system.

Almost 30 years have passed since the discovery of concentric (target) and spiral waves in the spatially extended Belousov-Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction. Since then, rotating spirals and target waves have been observed in a variety of physical, chemical, and biological reaction-diffusion systems. All of these waves propagate out from the spiral center or pacemaker. We report observations of inwardl...

Slowing Continuous Molecular Beams in a Rotating Spiral

Developments of the past decades in cold-atom physics have motivated molecular physicists to also venture into temperature domains below 1 kelvin [1, 2]. Inherently, molecular interactions are more complex than those between atoms, and the study of cold molecules opens up a plethora of new research areas in, e.g., quantum computation or molecular spectroscopy and scattering. However, the comple...
